Growing up, there were two things that my father enjoyed most, long car rides and telling stories. When mom needed a break, dad would pile us girls in the car and take us for a ride in the country. Along the way, he would point out interesting architectural features, and the placement of homes along the countryside. Mind you this was before cell phones and hand held devices, so indeed we spent hours looking out the window and conversing.
Dad's message would always end with, "and when you girls buy your own homes, make sure it does not sit at the bottom of the hill, as you do not want the rain and snow melt filling your basement come springtime." Well dad, us girls were listening to you all those years and we did invest wisely.
